Okay, so now if you’re like me or how I would say I used to be, I’m still working through these things. Rejection is not something that I have enjoyed. I don’t think most people enjoy rejection, but it wasn’t something that I necessarily feared, but it definitely isn’t something that I wanted to happen. So sometimes I would avoid certain situations just because I had the fear of being rejected. So I didn’t even put myself out there. I wouldn’t even try.
But I want to talk about how you can use rejection to your advantage especially as an entrepreneur, which is what I am, and using rejection as your revenge. Now, as you may or may not know, I am an entrepreneur specifically in the beauty industry and I have been since 2008 when I started my business years ago. I didn’t really start my business because I felt like I needed to be an entrepreneur and this was what I really wanted to do. I did want more freedom. I definitely wanted to get out of the legal field, which I was in for 12 years prior to becoming somebody in the field of beauty and relaxation. But I was rejected a number of times, because when I started my career as a certified eyelash extension stylist where I was located, there were not many people doing what I was doing.
I was one of the first in the state and I applied at many different businesses; salons and spas; wanting to be an employee and wanting to have this as what I provided on their service menu. But it wasn’t something that people gave me the opportunity to do. So I was rejected a number of times.
So let’s talk about rejection a little bit. When you’re rejected, whether it’s in business and personal situations whether you got ghosted by a friend. And if you don’t know what ghosted means, it means somebody that you were communicating with and it was all of a sudden, it’s like they dropped off the face of the planet because they stop messaging you, they stop calling you, they stop returning your calls. You, you know, reach out to them. You don’t hear from them anymore. You get ghosted by a significant other, somebody you were dating, and you were rejected.
Somebody at some organization, some person, whatever it is, you have extended yourself to, they say, “Nah, I’m good.” The rejection is not so much you personally, so do not take it personally, but you have to be able to face it. Once you’re able to face it, then you can learn from that experience. But if you can’t face it, then you’ll never learn from it. But when you’re rejected, you will gain knowledge from that experience. And then you’ll know what to look out for if you have similar experiences in the present, future or in the further future.
So being rejected is something that can help you and it’s something that you can gain a lot of knowledge from. And it’s honestly for your good. Because what I have learned in a spiritual sense was that, oh, sometimes we don’t see the full spectrum, we don’t see the full picture. And it’s God’s way of protecting you when he will allow either people or situations or opportunities that you wanted to have in your life to not work out. It’s to protect you. So look at it as a positive. It’s something to prevent you from some harm or danger in some way, shape or form.
The more you’re rejected, the more confidence that can build. And I can say that was my experience. Again, rejection didn’t feel good at first. I didn’t say I enjoyed the rejection, but I was able to face it and I was able to learn some things from it. And also not only can it build your confidence, but it can also build your creativity level. When I became an entrepreneur, it wasn’t so much that I was set out to be a business owner. I much would have rather worked in someone else’s established business and help their business to grow and help them to be better while I was helping myself. But those situations didn’t work out. But the rejections, it built the confidence level of me to say, you know what? I know that I can do this. I know that I’m good enough to do this, so why not try? And that’s what I did. And it built up the creativity level of me to be able to start my own business. So I was able to create a business name and register that business name. I got a vision for what I would want my business to look like and then start out small. And that’s what I did over the years. I didn’t start out with this glamorous spa. Some people are able to do that and that’s great, but that was just not in my financial language. So it wasn’t what I was able to do, but I’ve made what I was able to do work. And it worked out for my good because of the rejection, it boosted my confidence level and my creativity level because there was something inside.
Most of us, when we are rejected at first we feel bad. At first it, you know, it stings a little bit. But then after a little bit of time, whether it’s five minutes later or five weeks later, you’ll start thinking within yourself and you’re like, wait a minute, now I know that I’m good enough. So why am I going to let this person that rejected me or this person that told me no or this person that told me I couldn’t do it let that be the final say over my life. I’m going to do it anyway. I’m going to move forward anyway. I’m going to be great anyway!
And that’s exactly what I did. So the rejection helped to build up my confidence level and it helped to build up my creativity. So that’s something that rejection can do for you. And that’s how rejection can work for you. And you can use rejection as your revenge because I created this business not to compete with the other businesses that I applied for jobs at and I was rejected. But I built my business in spite of them. And honestly, I didn’t look back. I didn’t look to the left or the right. I didn’t look around me. I didn’t even think about them. I just focused on what I was doing and my business became a household name. Just simply focusing on what I was doing because my confidence level had been built up so much that it wasn’t something that I really needed to look around to see if I would have the ‘okay’ from these other businesses that say, you know, Kudos, you’ve got this, you’re doing good.
I didn’t need their critique. I didn’t need their support. I didn’t need any of it. All I needed was to have that confidence level within myself to say that I could do this. So those are just some ways that you can, and you should make rejection work for you as an entrepreneur, even if you’re not an entrepreneur. This can apply to anyone and use the rejection as your revenge. I’ve been rejected by some people, even as an entrepreneur where I’ve helped other people out, and they may have rejected me later on down the line. But you know what? It may hurt for a moment, but I’m using that rejection as revenge and I’m going to be greater in spite of them. And you can be greater in spite of any rejection you have received or experienced.
We often hear about exfoliating your face. But our entire body is important to refresh and renew, and so I wanted to do a video to discuss how to exfoliate our body. You can watch the video here, and let me know your thoughts or questions in the comments section on Youtube, or below.
I wanted to talk about this podcast that I was listening to Monique, the comedian and her husband have. They were talking about Steve Harvey and the recent events that have just happened in his professional life where he’s lost a couple of really big opportunities. His talk show, the Steve Harvey show or Steve, whatever it’s called. The show Little big shots, which was sort of a variety talent show for children. And these are pretty big deals. These are pretty big losses for him. And I guess a lot of people on social media, they were celebrating the fact that this happened to Steve and they were tagging Monique about it, hoping that she would either chime in or agree or you know, join into the celebration. Well, I have to say that what she said really touched my heart and she said we can’t celebrate the things that are happening to him right now because that’s not something that I ever wished on him.
And that’s what I want people to really listen to. And the reason I would I relate to that is because I have experienced things in my life where people that I thought had my back or I knew I was helping them out in some way. They turned for the sake of money, they turn for the sake of I can do better without you and make more money without you, and other reasons. So I’m going to just go and forge this out on my own. And you know, it was for the sake of money. And they said, screw the integrity. And many people may disagree with Monique, but she said a lot of the things that she was doing was for integrity and also for people that were, or are, coming behind her. She wanted to pave the way.
So when she made the stance to boycott Netflix, which I mean, I didn’t really agree with that completely, but I understood it. But she’s not celebrating Steve Harvey’s losses in business and his professional career. About three months ago, I want to say it was either back in late February or maybe even earlier when the episode was recorded, his talk show when he interviewed her, he was talking about this is not the integrity game. This is the money game. Which I did not agree with that either. And he said I can’t sacrifice everything that I have going on for the sake of integrity when I have other people that I’m responsible for and people that I have to take care of.
Okay. That’s his decision. That’s his opinion. He had the right to choose, do that well, now that these things are happening, that’s my belief. I’m in agreement with the law of sowing and reaping in life. Whether you agree with it or not, it is real. Whether you believe in gravity it is real. If you step off the ledge, you’re going to fall to the ground and you’re either going to be extremely injured or you’re going to die depending on how high up you are, so you don’t have to believe in gravity. You don’t have to believe in sowing and reaping. And that’s why it is so important to treat people the way that you would want to be treated so that you will reap a harvest from that.
It doesn’t matter someone is wishing that on you or praying that upon you. It’s going to happen because that’s just the way life is. So I do believe a lot of these losses that he is experiencing is the law of sowing and reaping. He is just reaping the harvest of the seeds that he has planted, but we don’t have to celebrate the harvest.
There’s a lot of videos and stories out there that talks about the stuff that Steve Harvey’s done to his previous wives cause I guess he’s been married two times before this current one. And I even did on my podcast last year and I talked about will you sell out to be sold out. And I also talked about how Steve Harvey, it was reported that he treated the employees of his previous talk show when he was in transition from Chicago to Los Angeles and moving his show there. I believe that he did a lot of the people wrong that was working there for the sake of a come up. And for the sake of doing better in business. I just don’t operate that way.
We all have decisions in life that we have to make and it’s our decision whether we want to do that or not. And for the sake of money, he decided to let integrity go by the wayside. So he said it out of his mouth. He said this is not the integrity game. This is the money game. That might be a true statement for the overall industry of Hollywood. But the fact that you choose that over integrity speaks a lot about your character. So apparently that’s the way he’s been operating his life and now he’s reaping the harvest of the seeds that he had that sown. But Monique is being the bigger person. And I love that. Like I almost was brought to tears when I was listening to her podcast because I’ve lived a life where I have had so many people that have done wrong undeservedly.
I know that what they have done, they will see it again in the future because my mom has the same. It’s behind me and it’s before them. It’s, you know, it’s your past. It’s behind you now. You keep moving forward. They’re going to keep moving forward as well, but they’re walking toward what they did to you, and it’s going to be greater. Because the thing about it is when you plant seeds, the seeds don’t grow into seeds. The seeds grow into greater things. You plant a seed for a tree, you’re going to get this huge tree with an abundance of leaves.
It’s not going to grow into a little seed. So that’s why it’s very important to sow good seeds in your life. Because what you sow, you will reap it. It is always greater than what you have sown.
She learned her lessons from the things that she went through and is currently going through from being blackballed in the industry. She learned about people that she thought had her back and she thought were friends and she still loves them. I believe deep down in her heart, but she learned the operate and that’s the lessons that she had to be taught. And I have learned lessons about people. People that I thought, you know, were for me that thought had my back (family, you know, so-called friends, former business colleagues that I’ve invested in and helped out.) You learn who these people are. And it was a hard lesson, but I learned it and I had to, I had to do that and she had to do that, but she’s not going to glory in the stuff that he is losing. And you know, even the Bible says that we’re not supposed to celebrate other people’s sufferings, even if you’d know that they were wrong in what they did. You don’t celebrate their sufferings, but you hope that they will learn from the things that they have gone through, the things that they have experienced, the losses that they may have encountered. You hope that they learn from it. And I’m hopeful that Steve will learn from these things.
No, I don’t believe that he’s going to be destitute from these losses. But I do believe he sowed those seeds and is reaping a harvest. I don’t know all the ins and outs of his personal business. I don’t really care to know. But what I do know is when people reap a harvest from bad seeds sown, I hope they learn the lessons and grow from it at the end of it all.
This large butt thing has gotten outrageous! I am all for enhancing your natural beauty or correcting issues you have, but there are just some outrageous things happening with butt enlargements, and many of them are illegal. I wanted to discuss it, so you can check out the video here.
If you’re in the business of any type. when you’re in business, you have to expect critics but you have to ignore them. Am I saying ignore constructive criticism? Absolutely not. I’m not saying ignore things and words that are said from people who genuinely have your best interest at heart and want to see you succeed and giving you constructive criticism that’s going to help you in your journey. But those that are trying to tear you down and saying that your business is horrible, says that you don’t know what you’re doing, the negative stuff that people will spew out at you because they’re trying to discourage you and they’re trying to play with your mind and manipulate you and they’re bringing stuff that is within themselves and projecting it on you. That’s what I’m talking about.
You need to ignore those people who tell you to quit. Most people will say to you that maybe you’re in the wrong industry, maybe you’re doing the wrong thing. I’m not saying that you don’t do your research and you don’t do evaluations and think about where you are and maybe changing some things up if you need to. That’s not what I’m talking about. I’m talking about the nasty critics. The negative people who have so much to say, but they’re not even doing anything themselves because most people who are busy doing things, they don’t have time to sit and critique and criticize other people. Let’s just be honest. The people who are in the Instagram comments and then youtube comments and Facebook comments or wherever are, they can leave comments that are nasty and rude and despicable and disgusting, and they’re so negative.
Who has time to do that when you’re actually working on something? Because let’s be honest, a lot of those people are working on jobs they’re extremely aggravated with and angry. They don’t want to be there. They’re playing on social media, on their bosses time when they’re supposed to be getting work done. So they have the time to get into your comment section to say something nasty and negative to you.
So do you really think they’re busy working and growing and building? No, absolutely not. So you get busy building and working and growing. You don’t have time for the BS so you don’t have time to go back and forth. Just ignore them! If you need to, hit that delete button and hit that block. Those are some amazing features that the different social media platforms have.
But expect the credits. You have to know your vision and your purpose and get in front of that vision and that purpose all the time. And don’t give up on it.
When you are being prepared to go to new levels, whether that’s in your personal life, whether that’s in your business, there are some things that will take place. I am a Beauty business entrepreneur; I’m a businesswoman. I’ve been an entrepreneur since 2006 and more specifically I’ve been a beauty business entrepreneur since 2008 I have been blessed over the years. In my business where it has just been a continual growth cycle. I have not experienced losses in my business over the years that I have been building. It has just constantly grown. . . . Until last year.
2018 represented my 10th year of being a beauty business entrepreneur and I did a video last year on my YouTube channel, and I talked about how I’ve been in this industry for 10 years and I’m not stopping. I talked about, you know, a few different things in that video, but to be honest, I really did that video for me to encourage myself because I went through a lot of experiences in my business last year that involved other people, outside forces, and it was just a lot of crazy stuff going on and some things that I’m still dealing with because when you experience something just because things are getting better, it doesn’t mean that everything is 100% better right away.
The business is still doing really good in spite of some things that have happened, but because of some things that happened, it kind of caused a domino effect with some other things. And it’s actually a topic that I’m writing about in a book because for me, writing about these things in more detail would be more beneficial for me and hopefully beneficial for the readers than just doing a few videos or blogs about it. For me, it’s going to be more of a healing process for me to put it in a book form because I did experience some bouts of depression going through that situation. When you are being prepared to go to different levels and go to higher places in your life, the one thing that you can expect to happen is obstacles!
And it will be things that may be related to what you are being prepared for. Some of the obstacles that you may experience may have nothing to do with what you are being prepared for. But when you are being prepared to go to new levels, be prepared for obstacles. It won’t be because you did anything wrong and you’re going to question yourself and you’re going to wonder what did I do wrong to cause these things to happen. I’m not saying that you may not have made some decisions or you may not have made some choices that could’ve been different, that may have prevented some of the things that will transpire in your life from happening. But if it won’t be that, it will be something else. You will go through obstacles when you are being prepared to go to new levels.
I like to relate to the Bible a lot and it’s not because I’m trying to preach to anybody. I can think of a number of different people in the Bible that went through a whole lot of things, but it was preparing them for a new level. One person, even though many people in the Bible went through a lot of difficulties when they were being prepared to go to new levels, the one person that I relate to is Job. If you all do not know the story of Job, I really encourage you to read the story of Job. Whether you read it in the Bible or a separate book study, I encourage you to do it.
Job went through so many difficulties. He had a lot, but he lost a lot. And even though he went through all of these things, he never just threw in the towel and quit on God, his belief, and his faith and there were people that were surrounding him. He had his friends that would tell him that he was crazy. His own wife even said, you know, you’re crazy. You need to just go ahead and curse God and die because you have no hope. There’s nothing left for you. I relate with a lot of that story of Job because I went through a lot of situations in my life business-wise where I lost a number of things that it was hurtful. It wasn’t expected, but I have so much more promise that is ahead of me that the things that I experienced, it really is to prepare me to go to a higher level because there’s so much more that is in store for me. I really trust and believe God for that. I really trust myself that the God within me, the Creator that I am, there is so much more that I have admitted that is going to happen. It’s like I admit that I am prosperous. I admit that I am more than a conqueror. I admit that I am a millionaire. I want you guys to let me know in the comments section what you admit to being that it’s positive that you are declaring for your life.
Say I admit ____ and let me know what it is that you admit about yourself that you’re speaking into existence and what you are creating for yourself. You have to admit it. You can’t deny it. You’re either going to admit or you’re going to deny. So do you want to admit that you’re a millionaire or do you want to deny that and say I’m not a millionaire? I’d rather admit that I’m a millionaire even if it hasn’t transpired yet. I would rather admit that I have so many engaged subscribers on my youtube channel and engaged people that are walking with me on my journey, on social media as I share the Bible. I’d rather admit those things than to deny that I have an engaged following or deny that I am healthy. No, I admit that I am healthy. I admit that I am whole. I admit that I am prosperous, so you have to admit that which you desire over your own life even if other people deny it because there are going to be people that are going to surround you that are going to deny that you are what you say you are. You may experience some things in life that you may see as a loss, but it is not a loss.
I’m not saying I don’t have moments where I feel like quitting, but cause you will have those moments because we are human, we are spirits living in a human vessel and this human body gets tired. This human body gets pissed off. This human body wants to fight. This human body wants to curse people out. I don’t do that because I know that there’s greater that is ahead of me and it’s not worth it.
So you will go through obstacles, you will go through trying times, but that is just for a moment and it is also not just for you, it’s to help somebody else. I know that the things that I have gone through and the things that I’ve experienced and the things that I’m still experiencing now, it’s not just for me, it’s to help somebody else who is behind me who maybe two steps behind me or they may be 200 steps behind me and they’re going to go through similar situations and they’re going to need somebody like me to encourage them to say yes, I’ve been through that.
Yes, I’ve experienced that. Yes, I have lost that, but I learned from that and it wasn’t a loss. It was a gain for me and if I can do it, you can do it too because sometimes people just really need that. It’s not just about them seeing somebody from far off that is not really real to them. You may hear the story of these big-time celebrities and it may not be relatable to you because where they are now, you may not be able to see yourself being where they are now. So to hear them say that they slept in their car and they were homeless and they were living in a place where they only had $40 to their name. It sounds inspiring that they made it from that to being The Rock, or being some other big-time celebrity.
But The Rock is a multi, multi multimillionaire who has millions upon millions upon millions of followers on social media and is sort of untouchable. So you may not be able to relate to somebody like that, but somebody may be able to relate to Elizabeth Jennings, The Minister of Beauty, who may not be at The Rock level, but I have four beauty business locations. And I came from a family where my father was on drugs and we moved from pillar to post. We lost houses. We had the lights cut off at times. The water was cut off at times. Sometimes I ate popcorn for dinner. You know, my mom was doing everything that she could to keep us from having to live in a homeless shelter and to live in a car, or out on the streets, but there were a few times where it may have seemed like that’s where we were going to be going because we didn’t have anywhere to go, but at that very last moment God worked things out.
So you will experience obstacles when you are being prepared to go to your new levels. Do not quit because it is just preparation. Say in the comments section, I’m just being prepared for my new level.
