Please walk with me on my journey of sharing the BIBLE (BUSINESS INSPIRATION BEAUTY LIFE ENJOYMENT) on my other platforms!
When you are being prepared to go to new levels, whether that’s in your personal life, whether that’s in your business, there are some things that will take place. I am a Beauty business entrepreneur; I’m a businesswoman. I’ve been an entrepreneur since 2006 and more specifically I’ve been a beauty business entrepreneur since 2008 I have been blessed over the years. In my business where it has just been a continual growth cycle. I have not experienced losses in my business over the years that I have been building. It has just constantly grown. . . . Until last year.
2018 represented my 10th year of being a beauty business entrepreneur and I did a video last year on my YouTube channel, and I talked about how I’ve been in this industry for 10 years and I’m not stopping. I talked about, you know, a few different things in that video, but to be honest, I really did that video for me to encourage myself because I went through a lot of experiences in my business last year that involved other people, outside forces, and it was just a lot of crazy stuff going on and some things that I’m still dealing with because when you experience something just because things are getting better, it doesn’t mean that everything is 100% better right away.
The business is still doing really good in spite of some things that have happened, but because of some things that happened, it kind of caused a domino effect with some other things. And it’s actually a topic that I’m writing about in a book because for me, writing about these things in more detail would be more beneficial for me and hopefully beneficial for the readers than just doing a few videos or blogs about it. For me, it’s going to be more of a healing process for me to put it in a book form because I did experience some bouts of depression going through that situation. When you are being prepared to go to different levels and go to higher places in your life, the one thing that you can expect to happen is obstacles!
And it will be things that may be related to what you are being prepared for. Some of the obstacles that you may experience may have nothing to do with what you are being prepared for. But when you are being prepared to go to new levels, be prepared for obstacles. It won’t be because you did anything wrong and you’re going to question yourself and you’re going to wonder what did I do wrong to cause these things to happen. I’m not saying that you may not have made some decisions or you may not have made some choices that could’ve been different, that may have prevented some of the things that will transpire in your life from happening. But if it won’t be that, it will be something else. You will go through obstacles when you are being prepared to go to new levels.
I like to relate to the Bible a lot and it’s not because I’m trying to preach to anybody. I can think of a number of different people in the Bible that went through a whole lot of things, but it was preparing them for a new level. One person, even though many people in the Bible went through a lot of difficulties when they were being prepared to go to new levels, the one person that I relate to is Job. If you all do not know the story of Job, I really encourage you to read the story of Job. Whether you read it in the Bible or a separate book study, I encourage you to do it.
Job went through so many difficulties. He had a lot, but he lost a lot. And even though he went through all of these things, he never just threw in the towel and quit on God, his belief, and his faith and there were people that were surrounding him. He had his friends that would tell him that he was crazy. His own wife even said, you know, you’re crazy. You need to just go ahead and curse God and die because you have no hope. There’s nothing left for you. I relate with a lot of that story of Job because I went through a lot of situations in my life business-wise where I lost a number of things that it was hurtful. It wasn’t expected, but I have so much more promise that is ahead of me that the things that I experienced, it really is to prepare me to go to a higher level because there’s so much more that is in store for me. I really trust and believe God for that. I really trust myself that the God within me, the Creator that I am, there is so much more that I have admitted that is going to happen. It’s like I admit that I am prosperous. I admit that I am more than a conqueror. I admit that I am a millionaire. I want you guys to let me know in the comments section what you admit to being that it’s positive that you are declaring for your life.
Say I admit ____ and let me know what it is that you admit about yourself that you’re speaking into existence and what you are creating for yourself. You have to admit it. You can’t deny it. You’re either going to admit or you’re going to deny. So do you want to admit that you’re a millionaire or do you want to deny that and say I’m not a millionaire? I’d rather admit that I’m a millionaire even if it hasn’t transpired yet. I would rather admit that I have so many engaged subscribers on my youtube channel and engaged people that are walking with me on my journey, on social media as I share the Bible. I’d rather admit those things than to deny that I have an engaged following or deny that I am healthy. No, I admit that I am healthy. I admit that I am whole. I admit that I am prosperous, so you have to admit that which you desire over your own life even if other people deny it because there are going to be people that are going to surround you that are going to deny that you are what you say you are. You may experience some things in life that you may see as a loss, but it is not a loss.
I’m not saying I don’t have moments where I feel like quitting, but cause you will have those moments because we are human, we are spirits living in a human vessel and this human body gets tired. This human body gets pissed off. This human body wants to fight. This human body wants to curse people out. I don’t do that because I know that there’s greater that is ahead of me and it’s not worth it.
So you will go through obstacles, you will go through trying times, but that is just for a moment and it is also not just for you, it’s to help somebody else. I know that the things that I have gone through and the things that I’ve experienced and the things that I’m still experiencing now, it’s not just for me, it’s to help somebody else who is behind me who maybe two steps behind me or they may be 200 steps behind me and they’re going to go through similar situations and they’re going to need somebody like me to encourage them to say yes, I’ve been through that.
Yes, I’ve experienced that. Yes, I have lost that, but I learned from that and it wasn’t a loss. It was a gain for me and if I can do it, you can do it too because sometimes people just really need that. It’s not just about them seeing somebody from far off that is not really real to them. You may hear the story of these big-time celebrities and it may not be relatable to you because where they are now, you may not be able to see yourself being where they are now. So to hear them say that they slept in their car and they were homeless and they were living in a place where they only had $40 to their name. It sounds inspiring that they made it from that to being The Rock, or being some other big-time celebrity.
But The Rock is a multi, multi multimillionaire who has millions upon millions upon millions of followers on social media and is sort of untouchable. So you may not be able to relate to somebody like that, but somebody may be able to relate to Elizabeth Jennings, The Minister of Beauty, who may not be at The Rock level, but I have four beauty business locations. And I came from a family where my father was on drugs and we moved from pillar to post. We lost houses. We had the lights cut off at times. The water was cut off at times. Sometimes I ate popcorn for dinner. You know, my mom was doing everything that she could to keep us from having to live in a homeless shelter and to live in a car, or out on the streets, but there were a few times where it may have seemed like that’s where we were going to be going because we didn’t have anywhere to go, but at that very last moment God worked things out.
So you will experience obstacles when you are being prepared to go to your new levels. Do not quit because it is just preparation. Say in the comments section, I’m just being prepared for my new level.
I wanted to discuss having a business conscience. And what that means is someone who respects those who are in business for themselves, who respects the amazing businesses, whether it’s their franchise or you know, a mom and pop business or whatever type of business that it is. Even if it’s an apple, you are respected. Do you have a business conscience? And you’re not an employee of this business and you’re complaining about the owner. .You’re complaining about the way things operate there. .You’re complaining about the owner being successful and being rich. .You’re stealing from the business. .You’re not respecting everything that this business has supplied and paid for that’s giving you an opportunity to be an employee at their business so that you can make money. A lot of people speak negatively about jobs these days and sometimes I feel like we’re on a downward spiral when it comes to people in businesses needing employees for your business support because a lot of people just don’t want to work anymore. They want all of the trappings of success, but they don’t want to work for it in order to achieve it and obtain it for themselves. They rather get it the fast way; they want to steal from the business. They don’t respect this business and what it has provided, and it’s not to get into the topics of people who are unscrupulous in business that are multimillionaires and have money to just wipe their butt with. I’m not talking about those people. What I’m talking about is honestly, people like myself.
I’ve had people that have worked in my business claiming that they want to have their own business, but they don’t even know how to treat my business. You treat the products and supplies as if it’s nothing, but these are things that I spend so much money on. You don’t respect the way that I have set the rules and regulations up in the employee handbook because you want to do things your way and yeah, you want to have your own business. If you don’t know how to treat someone else’s business and be a great employee in theirs, how do you really expect to have a successful business of your own? Again, like I say all the time, being in business is not all about you. It’s about everyone else and you are on the receiving end of it with gaining the success and the wealth and the money and the prestige and the other things that come along with that, but it doesn’t negate the work that you have to do and a lot of people don’t want to work.
I went to one of my beauty business locations not long ago and I was doing some things after I had some former staff leave that I needed to get rid of and, you know, clean some things up to get some new people in and it was just amazing to me how some of the simplest things that they should know how to operate products and tools and supplies. They were so sloppy with that. It was just money for me in the garbage because they weren’t taking care of things the way that they needed to take care of. And it was just a joke to me because I’m thinking, okay, you say you want to have your own business. You say, you eventually want to be an entrepreneur, but yet you can’t treat the things that I have provided for you to work with to be taken care of and you want to have your own business.
Like you can’t even take the trash out. I’m just saying it starts with the simple things. When I worked in other people’s businesses, I always respected their stuff and I can honestly say that it has a lot to do with how far I’ve gotten in life and business because I’ve treated people at other people’s businesses and things with honor and respect, whether I care for them that much or not. And that just really didn’t have anything to do with it. Even back when I was a legal assistant, I didn’t get upset when the attorneys would take time off and go golfing and they didn’t come in until noon, you know, on a Friday or they may not have come in at all. I said one of these days that’s going to be me, not saying I want it to be an attorney or be out on a golf course, but I’m saying having a more flexible schedule.
But while I was there, I respected and honored what was going on there and I did my job and I didn’t steal from anyone. I didn’t destroy their property, I didn’t disrespect them. So it makes a big difference. How you start is how you will end app. Are you an entrepreneur that has employees and your business and you don’t feel that they have a business conscience because they don’t respect your business? Are you an employee now and are you aware of the business and what they are giving you an opportunity to do?
Wanting to share something that was on my heart as the minister of beauty. This is not just a business, it’s a calling for me. A lot of people see the term, the phrase or the word “minister” and they acquaint it to somebody who is the minister of a church or you know, a preacher or something like that. I’m neither of those. I don’t have a church. I’m not in anyone’s pulpit and I’m not here to preach to anyone. I’m just here to serve and that’s what a minister does, a minister serves. But I’m a beauty business entrepreneur. I’ve been an entrepreneur since 2006 and I’ve been a beauty business entrepreneur since 2008.
I am blessed to be in the position that I am in, but I’ve been like I said, a beauty business entrepreneur since 2008 so it’s been a little over 10 years now. And it’s something we see a whole lot of in social media is people saying things like “all I do is win”, “it’s winning season”, win, win, win, and yet those things may be true, but not a lot of people are talking about the losses. It’s like this phrase in a song that I love called a sweet victory. One of the lines in the song is “ I hear you talking wins, but I see your losses”, not a lot of people see the losses. Not a lot of people like to share the losses because it makes them feel like they’re defeated or they’re losing. My business has been blessed to continuously grow over the years and I’ve doubled my businesses income pretty much every year . . . except for 2018.
And here’s one of the reasons why. It wasn’t because of anything that I did wrong. And if I did something wrong, I would definitely share that. But I had to start letting some people and some things go. Sometimes you have people in your camp, you have people in your space and your surroundings or in your business that are not helping you grow. Even though it may seem like they are. But I had to start letting some people and some things go. And when you start doing that, you experience some losses. But these things are temporary. They’re momentary. It’s not forever. It’s just for a season. So right now, at this very moment, I don’t have as many people working with me as I did before. And I’m okay with that. I started just saying, you know what? I don’t really want this person or that person around me.
So I started to do some things to release some people from my life and release some people from my business. And for those reasons, I’m kind of starting over. I’m in a stage of bringing in new blood. Some of the people that are with me now have been so tremendously helpful in my life and in my business that I couldn’t imagine having the stress of some of the people that used to work with me still on my own team, so to speak. And they weren’t on my team. They were just here to make really great money. And I’ve helped a lot of people make really great money. Some of them straight out of the cosmetology and beauty schools never having a job where they made as much money as they did. And they did with me because I gave them the tools and I gave them the strategies, but not only that, I did a lot and do a lot in my business to help them to earn those incomes. Something a lot of businesses won’t do.
But at any rate, I am in this transition period right now and I’m really thankful that I’m learning that sometimes in order to see prosperity you have to purge and sometimes you have to purge people. It’s not just things, it’s not just stuff. And when you are going to a level of prosperity and growth, you’re going to experience losses before you see those gains. That’s just the way life happens. Ok, I’m no Warren Buffet. But recently I read a little snippet of a story he was talking about how this 2018 he experienced the highest level of losses that he has ever experienced in his business. So a lot of people are going through that, but he’s not defeated. He’s not calling it quits or allowing that to stop him and neither am I and I’m here to say neither should you.
Don’t allow the things that you have experienced and the things that you’re going through right now currently to stop you see it for what it is. Take inventory, put it on paper and decide what you need to do for yourself, for your life, for your business, your life depends on it and you have to save yourself before you can save anyone else. And you know the rates of pay that I was paying to some people is just really ridiculous. I’m not saying that people aren’t worthy of a good wage. I truly believe in that. But I believe that you have to work for that and it should be earned and not given. And I was giving a lot and I wasn’t receiving a lot in return. So I’m making some changes. I’ve changed some things around, even move some furniture around in my business. 😂
Don’t be discouraged if you’re going through a season of changes or you have people that used to be in your life that isn’t there anymore and you’re wondering why or you had to cut some people off. 2018 was a year I cut a lot of people out and, a lot of things out of my atmosphere that was not doing me any good, even though it felt like it was doing me good, it really wasn’t. 2019 my journey continues as I am still purging; some by my own choice and some by others choice but still for my good. I have a lot of great things are coming, I’m really excited about.
And again, it’s not about me, it’s to help other people. I believe that my experiences in the world of entrepreneurship have not just been for myself and for me to learn some things as to help other people so that they can avoid some of the things that I went through. That’s what the experiences that we go through in life should be. It should be to help other people to prevent them from tripping up and making the mistakes or you know, stepping into the holes or the pitfalls that you may have experienced in your life. It’s to help somebody else. So that’s who I am as the minister of beauty. I’m here to share the Bible that stands for business inspiration, beauty, life, and enjoyment.
You may have had some doors closed in your face, in your life, in your business, in your school that you’re attending and it can feel very discouraging. I know because I’ve been there on a number of occasions in my life, seriously, but I’m here to tell you from my own personal and business scenarios that closed doors do not mean dead ends and they can be great opportunities for you to start over to do something different. I had a number of doors closed in my face, like I said, over the years, but especially in 2018 I had a number of things that turned around a number of people that did different things and closed the doors on me and it was hurtful for a moment. I did feel like, well, is this it? Is this the end?
But I soon picked myself back up and I realized that, you know what, I didn’t get into this because these people were the ones that told me to do this. I got into this because I knew that I had a vision and a plan and God has something greater for me. So just because they may have closed the doors doesn’t mean that it’s a dead end. It just means it’s an opportunity for me to regroup. I think about things a little bit differently, make some plans, arrangements that are going to turn some things around and it’s absolutely turning around. So again, close doors do not mean dead ends. They can be great opportunities for success. Think about some of the greats in business who have had situations that happen to them, but they became more super successful than other people could have ever imagined or dreamed and sometimes maybe even bigger than they even imagined or dreamed.
So don’t see a closed door as a dead end. See it as an opportunity. Seize on the moment, do your research, get coaching, mentoring whatever you need to do to help you because you can’t do it all alone. You do need help, and watch things start to flourish and turn around in your life. And then be thankful for that closed door as an open opportunity.
Let me know some situations that you’ve had where you had a door close in your life, whether it was personal or business, and how you overcame it, or if you’re still going through. If you would like to schedule a chat with me, you can do so here. https://calendly.com/themobeauty
